Asia stocks fall amid Greek debt deal doubts

(AP) ? Asian stock markets were mostly lower Thursday as investors fretted over the details of a deal to save Greece from financial collapse and preserve its place among nations that use the euro. Japan bucked the trend as the yen weakened, boosting exporter shares.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.8 percent to 21,380.26 and South Korea’s Kospi lost 1.2 percent to 2,005.30. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.4 percent to 4,275.60. Benchmarks in Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan were also lower.

But Japan’s 225 Nikkei added 0.2 percent to 9,569.63 as the dollar traded near a seven-month high against the yen. That’s a positive sign for Japan’s powerhouse exporters, which have struggled amid a prolonged period of strength in the yen.

Wall Street was lower Wednesday, a day after the Dow Jones industrial average hit 13,000 for the first time in nearly four years. Analysts said investors are sifting through conflicting signals about the U.S. economy, Chinese growth and the longevity of the euro in deciding whether to buy or sell.

“Equity markets globally now seem to have reached an interesting inflection point, having gotten off to a great start to the year,” said Cameron Peacock of IG Markets in Melbourne, Australia.

Investors are trying to determine whether recent highs on Wall Street would “trigger a bout of profit taking or serve as a catalyst for a new wave of money to come into the market,” he said in a report. “At this stage the verdict appears evenly divided.”

Investors remained worried that a $170 billion bailout for Greece, announced Tuesday, would not be enough to keep the debt-laden country from eventually defaulting.

Greece says the bailout, plus an agreement it hopes to secure from investors to take losses on Greek government bonds, will keep it in the so called eurozone.

The Greek economy is entering its fifth year of recession. Fitch ratings agency downgraded Greece further into junk status Wednesday, to a rating of C, one notch above default.

In the U.S., the Dow fell 0.1 percent to close at 12,938.67. The Standard & Poor’s 500 lost 0.3 percent to 1,357.66. The Nasdaq composite slipped 0.5 percent to 2,933.17.

Benchmark oil for April delivery was down 48 cents to $105.80 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose 3 cents to finish at $106.28, the highest since May, in New York on Wednesday.

In currency trading, the dollar slipped to 80.17 yen. On Wednesday in New York, the greenback reached 80.24 yen ? a seven-month high that came a week after the Bank of Japan announced a surprise increase in its economic stimulus program. The yen has been falling against the dollar ever since the announcement.

The euro rose to $1.3250 from $1.3244.

Tweet Like A Pirate ? Blog Archive ? Launching a New Product …

by Jack | February 21st, 2012

The reputation of a company is on the line during any product launch campaign, so it needs to be treated as a very important time. Product launch is a great way to bring many people to your business with a single event. Many companies and businesses don?t really understand the importance of having the right product launch and instead work with whatever they have. They don?t realize how important this day is and can actually make or break the product. With the possibility to increase popularity of the company in general, properly set up product launches could change an entire companies fortunes. When you are bringing a new product to market, you may want to target the launch at an existing market or you may want to create your own market. In this article we will be talking about a few simple tips on how you can make your product launch a roaring success. Pur water filter discount

A product launch wouldn?t be successful without a good product. No matter how fine your marketing is if your product fails to deliver, then you won?t see success. Your product has to be the center of your marketing campaign. To ensure that your product has plenty of value, you must understand the inner workings of your market. Be sure your product will give them an experience that will not leave them wanting more from it or you. You want your customer to trust you, but you can do even better than this if you end up giving the customers even more than you promised: you can turn them into repeat customers. Gaining a customer for life should be your objective. The old saying that the first impression is the last is true, and you want your product to reflect this. If you make your customers happy at the very beginning, they will make it a point to come back to you time and again. UV light treatment for water

If you want to achieve a successful product launch, you will want to enlist the help of the readily available materials online that will help with things like promotions and advertising. You do not want to hamstring yourself and prevent success before you have even begun. There will be a lot of effort that is put into successfully launching your product on the Internet, so you want to make sure that you have all of your marketing bases covered to achieve the best results.

One way to do this is to use helpful tools like Pay per Click advertising in addition to the usual affiliate marketing from day one. You can literally have thousands of laser targeted visitors hitting your website in a matter of minutes. Indeed, this strategy might even surpass affiliate marketing in terms of long term benefits since it could be possible to find a strategy that will continually generate income for many years. Before you try and construct some sort of an offer that will blow your customers away, you would be smart to think of just what they hope to get from it. This is very important because the customers may not be buying it so much for a specific feature so much as the advantages they can derive from it. Once you have all your benefits listed out, you can then make an enticing offer your target market and take it from there.

You will definitely spend a lot of time on your product launch, and you will most likely get frustrated from time to time, but don?t give up.

Some people have found their launch day to bring them the most profit, but they have also made tons of money for years afterward.

Tebow ‘changed the culture’

NFL Honors And Pepsi Rookie Of The YearGetty Images

On those two or three occasions per year when the folks at GQ decide to chime in on football, my initial reaction is (to borrow a phrase from Brandon Jacobs) ?stay cute and shut up.?? Most of the time, however, there?s something in there worth repeating.

Especially when the author is our good friend Michael Silver.? Who has rarely been called ?cute? and who even more rarely shuts up.

Silver has compiled an ?oral history? of Tim Tebow.? Since I?m finally forcing myself to trudge through the clumsy, narrative-challenged oral history of ESPN, I was prepared to ping-pong from quote to quote in the hopes of trying to find something instructive and/or entertaining from the broader item.

The new quotes loosely track Tebow?s first almost-full season as a starter.? Here are the ones that stuck out.? For those of you who received your ?I read the 750 pages of the ESPN book and all I got was this lousy T-shirt? T-shirts, it?ll be a snap (relatively speaking) to breeze through the whole thing.

Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has the most insightful comment of anyone.? (Yes, that?s the first time that specific sentence has ever been uttered in all of human history.)? ?You know what the coolest part about the whole thing is?? Allen says.? ?And the reason people hate it?? Because it?s showing that the conventional wisdom of coaches isn?t really necessary.? You know, coaches always think they have the winning theory: ?Our way is the right way!? Blah blah blah!?? Well, here?s a dude that they basically had to scrap the whole offense for and go back to running a college [system].? And they have been successful with it.? Sometimes people think the game is more difficult than it is.? If you find something that works, go with it.? And I don?t really think it has to be a nine-syllable frickin? play.?

ESPN?s Trent Dilfer wades gingerly, until the last part, into the murky waters of the religious aspect of Tebowmania.? ?I don?t have a problem with what Tim Tebow?s doing with [his outspoken Christianity]. I?ve seen him try to articulate why he has the belief and why he believes the things he does, in a very easy way to understand.? He?s not the guy, when the cameras are put in his face, saying, you know, ?Praise to God, because he supernaturally let that ball hit my receiver!?? You know what I mean?? But he?s up-front with it, and he makes many people uncomfortable.? I do have a problem with what the Christian community is doing with his faith, that they are almost becoming a cult following.? I think it?s an ?us? problem, not a ?him? problem.?

Dilfer ultimately is right.? Tebow never has tried to suggest that there?s an Angels in the Outfield component to his success.? But others ? and there are many, and they are zealous ? firmly believe that something more than human is making good things happen for Tebow and the Broncos.? (Except, of course, when they play the Patriots.)

It doesn?t help that guys like Kurt Warner are trying to make the Tebow story into a real-life David-and-Goliath tale.? ?To me, it?s a biblical story,? Warner explains.? ?That?s what the Bible?s full of: ordinary guys who are able to accomplish extraordinary things, not by their own strength and might but by God?s hands coming with them.? And I think it?s very similar to my story and what people took from me going from a grocery-store clerk to a Super Bowl champion.?

The difference between Warner and Tebow is that Warner ultimately got a chance to demonstrate his abilities as a high-level passer.? Tebow is succeeding without those skills, and he?s desperately trying to establish them in order to keep his job.? That?s what V.P. of football operations John Elway wants to see.

?I get encouraged when I see him working within the system and throwing on time, with good feet. That, to me, is where he?s getting better,? Elway says.? ?Consistency and accuracy is gonna come when he gets consistent with his feet.? It?s like a pitcher: The front foot comes down on the same spot every single time. He?s just never really worked on that.?

Former teammate Brandon Lloyd, when asked what Tebow needs to do to become an elite passer on Monday?s PFT Live, had a slightly different focus.? ?I think that what he needs to do is what every quarterback does,? Lloyd said.? ?It?s about the classroom when it comes to being a quarterback.? Understanding how defenses are covering the offense versus the plays and routes that are being run is over half the battle, because then you can have that anticipation and that timing and then you?re not guessing where you?re throwing the ball. . . .? It?s the ability to understand what the defense is doing when you?re going under center on that particular play and understanding the grand scheme of what they?re trying to do to stop you.?

Regardless of what Tebow needs to do to get there, Elway knows that, if Tebow can, everyone in the organization will benefit.

?He has changed the culture of that locker room. The way he handles his life, the way he is with people, the way he is with media ? everybody wants to fight over what he is on the football field, but for the NFL, for the Denver Broncos, he?s perfect,? Elway says.? ?He?s a great kid.? You know, people want him to be successful.? And so do I.? Everybody in this building does, too. If he?s the guy that can be our guy for ten, fifteen years, that?s a hell of a deal for us.?

Elway should rethink calling it a ?hell? of a deal.? Unless, of course, the only way Tebow can ever get to where he needs to be entails doing a deal with the devil.? And/or Don Draper.

Dissertation writing can be an extremely challenging task. Yet, it has to be completed as this task is mandatory for obtaining a university or college degree. Graduate and/or post graduate students who do not submit a dissertation of a passing standard automatically become ineligible for such degree. As a result, years of time and money can be wasted. When writing a dissertation certain factors are essential. Such factors include, among others: coming up with a good research question and hypothesis, designing robust methodology, conducting research, analyzing findings and presenting a conclusion. Each segment of the dissertation should be presented as logically and clearly as possible. Having to adhere to these requirements make dissertation writing one of the toughest hallenges that university students face. This is why many students are compelled to obtain dissertation writing assistance from professional writing companies.

Time Management during Dissertation Writing

One of the key factors in meeting the guidelines and deadlines is time management. Time planning is essential for successful dissertation completion. Submitting a dissertation proposal also requires a time plan. Nevertheless, even though students may build a time plan, they do not necessarily adhere to it. As a result, dissertations are written in haste and may not be received well. Dissertation writing is a complex and an extensive project. Hence, it requires an in-depth review of literature, research methodology, analysis, data gathering, and the actual writing of the dissertation. The reading and research of literature itself may take over 2-3 months in some cases. Field research is another major time consumer.

Students who consider obtaining assistance from dissertation writing services should take a few essential factors into account. The most important thing to consider before obtaining dissertation writing assistance is the selection of the right company. The company selected should be reliable and reputed. It might be worthwhile for students to conduct a small background research prior to making a final decision in regards to the company selection. Ideally, such company should employ well qualified, experienced dissertation writers, who possess the knowledge required for writing high quality dissertations. Once the company passes customer screening, it can be selected for future cooperation. Prior to placing your order, it is always a good idea to check whether you can place orders chapter by chapter; in addition you should also check if you can assign chapters to the same writer — this will ensure homogeneity of writing. In addition, it is a good idea to place a small trail order — this will show you whether the writer has the qualities and the expertise you are looking for.

Please bear in mind that dissertations cannot be written by any writer. Dissertation writing should only be done by a professional writer with a suitable background. Preferably this should be someone who has written dissertations for himself or herself. Another point to consider is communication within the company. Remember: a company that facilitates continuous dialogue between the client and the dissertation writer will be a wise choice. Communication gives both parties the ability to interact and collaborate closely, and also allows them to stick to the requirements of the dissertation and ensures a smooth writing process. Close contact with the writer and constant information exchange within the project is vital for its successful completion. Student involvement in the dissertation writing process also makes the defending of the dissertation at the final viva easier.

Green Chemist: A Q&A with Departing EPA Science Advisor Paul Anastas

Paul Anastas Image: Flickr/National Academy of Sciences

Editor’s Note :? Paul Anastas, the father of green chemistry, is leaving his?high-ranking post at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency next month and returning to Yale University. During an interview with Jane Kay of Environmental Health News, Anastas, who will remain at his post for another month or so, said there has been a “growing realization across EPA” that green chemistry “can meet environmental and economic goals simultaneously.” During his two years as science advisor and assistant administrator at EPA’s Office of Research and Development, Anastas played a key role in many important decisions and issues, including the use of dispersants during the Gulf oil spill and the agency’s long-awaited analysis of dioxin.? ??Marla Cone, Editor in Chief
?
Q: Why are you leaving the EPA to return to Yale University?

A: I was just describing to some folks in Washington that people always say they’re leaving their positions to spend more time with their family. Sometimes it’s actually true. In the confirmation hearings, I was asked why I’d leave a perfect life. I said I considered it to be an extension of my love for my family, for my children. That fact in so many ways was necessary for me to leave them for this time. We’ve made some important changes at the EPA. It’s time for me to go home.

I have a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old. The 1-year-old was born during the Gulf oil spill. Some of the most painful time is spending time in the Gulf of Mexico?away from your wife when you have a newborn-to-be. We had a large town hall meeting in the Gulf of Mexico. Someone asked how do we know that you people in Washington care about us in the Gulf. I said I have a 6-week baby and I’ve been down here for the last five weeks. You can be sure I care what’s happening. I’ve been gone half of my oldest daughter’s life, and all of my youngest daughter’s life.

Q: How have you instituted the principles of green chemistry at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency?

A: The most important thing is that there’s been this realization: the only reason to deeply understand a problem is to inform and empower its solutions. The EPA has a long history of understanding how toxic certain chemicals are. There’s this realization now we can actually design chemicals and design manufacturing so they are less toxic and less polluting.

I can point to the work that’s going on in the labs in Cincinnati developing new manufacturing processes, new synthetic methodologies and new nano materials making sure that you get the new performance without the concerns and the hazards. I can point to our work at Research Triangle Park in computational toxicology, which is informing molecular design to reduce hazards. We’re doing it in our internal research, in our research grant programs to universities and in continuing the green chemistry awards that recognize accomplishments. This is part of solution orientation, how you use innovation to generate solution rather than only quantifying the problem. There is a growing realization across EPA that this approach can meet environmental and economic goals simultaneously.
?
Q: What do you think is your greatest accomplishment at the EPA?

A: My role in advancing the “Green Book” produced by the National Academies of Science. It is one of the best reports that I’ve ever seen from the NAS, and is something that I’m glad to be a part of. The “Green Book,” or “Sustainability and the U.S. EPA,” is a tremendously informative and powerful document that has received contributions from representatives of industry, academia, public health and non-governmental organizations. Its recommendations are currently being reviewed and deliberated by the agency this spring as part of the ongoing listening sessions to get people’s perspectives about sustainability. The whole point is that we have 25 years of knowledge. This “Green Book” outlines the scientific, technical and analytical way to put sustainability into practice. While it is directed at the EPA, it is far more broadly applicable for people who want to put sustainability into practice.
?
Q: What still needs to be done at the EPA?

A: We need to strengthen scientific and legal foundations, expand the conversation on environmentalism to communities who have not traditionally been included and introduce innovation into consideration of all of the work that we do.

Q: What are your thoughts on the White House’s decision to withdraw a tougher ozone standard?

A: The president takes into account many factors in making decisions. The timing of any actions needs to be considered as well. The science of the ozone assessment is very solid and is never in question. The standards on ozone are ones that the agency will revisit in the future in accordance with the law.

Q: EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, in her note announcing your return to Yale credited you, among other things, with leading the EPA’s response in the United States to the Fukushima power plant’s radiological releases. What did you find?

A: It was an emergency operation basically letting the American people know if there was any radiation contaminating drinking water, rainfall, air or milk based on monitoring all over the country, including Guam and Hawaii. The good news is that, as expected, the levels continued to drop to below background levels. There are no lingering levels of radioactivity for people to be concerned about. The levels were elevated above background during the incident. But we concluded that the levels people were exposed to weren’t causing additional risks.

Q: You also had a role in the response and investigation of the British Petroleum oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Can you discuss some of the controversies related to the Gulf oil spill?

A: The biggest issue was the use of dispersants. The priority was to stop oil, to collect it, to skim it, to berm it. All of that wasn’t enough. We knew the imperative was to keep oil off the precious shoreline. The decision to use dispersants was made, and it was not made lightly.? Again, there is the constant task of continuance improvement. Dispersants like any other chemical can benefit from concepts of green chemistry.
?
It?s appropriate for people to ask questions and have concerns any time you are going to introduce large quantities of chemicals into the environment, which is why we put into effect extraordinary measures to monitor. That?s the reason why all of the precautions were taken — ongoing constant testing of the toxicity to marine life and dissolved oxygen levels to make sure there wasn’t any anomaly that could result in harm.? We were making sure the dispersants were doing the job of breaking down the oil into a form that could be digested by microbes. FDA had responsibility for fish quality, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had responsibility for fisheries.

Q: Two decades after discovery of endocrine-disrupting compounds, why has the EPA still not worked out requirements for testing? What are the remaining issues and obstacles?

A: We recognize that it is important. This is one of the areas that hold a great deal of promise for the future. Computational toxicology is one of the emerging research areas that give insight to the toxicity of these types of chemicals, and it can do it at a faster rate and at a lower cost.
?
Q: What should the EPA do about emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals in water?

A: The important thing for anyone concerned about the environment is to understand that we’re not going to make the progress we want if we consider chemical by chemical. We have to have a better understanding of the nature of the hazard at the molecular level. Once we have that understanding, we can understand chemicals in terms of families and groups and the risk on humans and the environment. One of the ways is to design them in a different way.

Q: What about the reassessment of dioxin that we have been waiting for the last 20 years?

A: The agency has publicly targeted completing that assessment in 2012.
?
More about Anastas:
?
Nominated by President Obama in 2009 to lead the EPA’s research division, Anastas was the director of the Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering, and the inaugural Teresa and H. John Heinz III Professor in the Practice of Chemistry for the Environment at Yale University. Before that he?was the founding director of the Green Chemistry Institute at the American Chemical Society.??He began his career as a staff chemist at the EPA, where he coined the term “green chemistry” and?became director of the agency’s green chemistry program.
?
Here’s a list of the 12?principles of green chemistry.

Pakistan coup rumors: Could the military take over again?

Coup rumors come at a time of great public dissatisfaction with Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and growing disenchantment among the military with the US alliance.

There?s never a good time to be worried about your health. But when Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari flew to Dubai on Tuesday to undergo tests after what his spokesman called a ?minor heart attack,? the rumors grew thick and fast that President Zardari would be ousted in a coup.

Pakistan is a rumor-prone place, despite having a fairly independent press, and both Pakistani and US officials were quick to tamp down any rumors of a military coup. But Zardari?s health problems come at a time when he is deeply unpopular with his own people, both over the usual issues of corruption and over his handling of international relations with the US, which have reached a nadir.

In theory, the US and Pakistan are allies in the fight against the same terrorist group, Al Qaeda, and supporters of a democratic regime in Afghanistan. But a spate of recent events shows how much the US-Pakistani relationship has soured.

  • The US capture and killing of Osama bin Laden on May 1, 2011, just yards away from a Pakistani military installation this year
  • The arrest and release of a CIA contract Raymond Davis for killing two Pakistanis on a motorbike in late January 2011
  • The continued US use of military drones over Pakistan, aimed at insurgents, but occasionally killing civilians as well
  • The apparently mistaken November 2011 bombardment of Pakistani soldiers by NATO forces in Afghanistan
  • And more recently, the withdrawal of Zardari?s ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani, after news emerged that he supported the civilian government

As the man in the position to stand up to the Americans, Zardari is blamed by many Pakistanis, including some within the Pakistani military, for failing at his job. Opinion polls show that many Pakistanis would like to break off their alliance with the US and cooperation in the war against terror groups. So, while Zardari officials discount coup rumors, the conditions are certainly favorable for one.

“President Zardari’s condition is stable, he is fine, he is OK,” presidential spokesman?Farhatullah Babar?told AFP on Thursday.? As for rumors of a possible coup, Mr. Babar called them ?”speculative, imaginary, and untrue.”

Zardari appears to have taken senior members of his military staff along with him to Dubai, a move that could very well have been a measure to ensure that he was kept informed of news events back home, or that could also have been intended to ensure that Zardari would indeed be allowed to return back to the country after his treatment.

Shawn Michaels on … stopping the show

Mr. WrestleMania reflects on his legendary Ladder Match with Razor Ramon, and his dream for a second chance to face off against “Stone Cold,” before imagining what his career with Bret “Hit Man” Hart might have been like.

What are the ingredients of a showstopping match?
Beats the hell out of me! But first and foremost, I think it?s not focusing too much on stealing the show. The whole thing about me being The Showstopper?and Mr. WrestleMania?is that it was something I said once, and it took on a life of its own from there. Truthfully, I think the idea of going out and stealing the show is something you ought to do every time you wrestle. But if you focus only on that element, you end up doing almost too much.

Do you think there was any pressure backstage on Superstars who had to follow HBK?
I think that?s probably a question better left for those Superstars. I would like to think that, if nothing else, my presence inspires people to be better. I talked a bunch of crap for years, and then went out and worked hard. That?s the extent of it. There?s no magical genius to it, as much as I?d like to think there is. I?m just a guy who works hard?and I hope guys are challenged by that.

1211388221001|01:33When you came to the ring at WrestleMania XIX, you were firing off confetti guns, some of which didn?t work. How does grace under pressure come into play when you?re stopping the show?
I?ve been able to deal with those types of things much better since my return. Years ago, I was always serious, and now I chuckle and make jokes to create a calm environment, because WrestleMania can be a high-pressure atmosphere. The entrance is important, but it?s the in-ring performance that fans truly remember. My zipline entrance has become so much bigger over time, but I still think fans remember the match more than anything. Plus, as I said, I?m a lot calmer now.

So what should a Superstar focus on when striding to the ring at The Show of Shows?
Going out there and giving it the best effort you can. Everything else falls into place if you concentrate on that. When you over-think things, it all becomes a blur.

Your match against Razor Ramon at WrestleMania X is still an admired favorite. In your opinion, why has it endured?
Over the years, the ladder itself has become the central figure of that particular stipulation, but in our situation, it served as a backdrop for something much bigger. We were two guys claiming rightful ownership of those titles, and the ladder was just there as a way for us to prove who was the best. Now, the ladder is the primary element, and these matches are often about what the contestants can do with it.

When a match is over, do you ever bask in your success?
Years ago, when I was younger, I not only basked in it, I rubbed it in everyone?s face! I was angrier then. Since my return in 2002, I?ve honestly just felt privileged to do what I do. I enjoy the pats on the back, but every year I go back up to my hotel room and sit with my wife and children, and have the traditional pizza and cookies, and feel so unbelievably fortunate. My return in 2002 was a second chance, and a lot of people don?t get that.

Have you ever been surprised by how well one of your ?Mania matches was received?1211519693001|02:15
There have been a number of them that surprised me?even the Ladder Match, which I knew was special. I just didn?t have any idea of the impact it would have on the entire industry. The Iron Man Match against Bret Hart at WrestleMania XII was another one, and the bout at WrestleMania XIX against Chris Jericho. I walked away feeling those were really good, then people started saying, ?Holy cow, it was the best match of the show!?

Speaking of second chances, is there a ?Mania match you wish you could do over?
The one I always come back to is my match against Steve Austin at WrestleMania XIV. I just wasn?t in a great place physically or emotionally. That one could have been so much more. Steve didn?t get me at my best. And that?s unfortunate, because it was the last time I got to work with him. Steve went on to such great things afterward, and I had an opportunity to make that match so much more.

Is there a ?Mania match you?ve witnessed and thought, ?I wish I was a part of that??
Not that I can recall, and I say that because I haven?t seen that many of them. One of the things about me is I work until the time I go out. I still get nervous, so I?m busy training, going over details and being by myself. I?d love to tell everyone that I?m completely calm, cool and collected, but that?s not the case. I?m a bundle of nerves. Don?t think I don?t know the image that I?ve stumbled into over the years?I know what I have to live up to every time I go out there.

How do you judge your impact on WrestleMania?
Well, to me, recalling a match is like re-telling a fishing story. The fish goes from an eight-incher to a 15-incher, and it gets bigger every time the story is told. I?ll take all the pats on the back, but I?ve never focused on creating an historical event. I think true greatness comes from never believing you?re great. It comes from always having that need to go out and prove yourself.

Who do you think could emerge as the next Showstopper?
I never like these questions, because I always feel like I?m leaving someone out. But I will say that I could watch Randy Orton and John Cena over and over again. Randy has come so far, and his persona is so strong and dark. I look into his eyes and he?s got me. Some of the matches contested between John and Randy have been phenomenal.

Looking back over your career, is there one Superstar you wish you could have had a chance to face at ?Mania?309126953001|05:16
Not really. I find it very hard at this point in my career to have too many complaints or regrets. I got my match with Ric Flair. I got to wrestle Hulk Hogan. I will say that I wish I had been in a better place in my life with Bret. Our matches were phenomenal, but I shudder to think what he and I could have accomplished had we gotten along.

SEVEN MOMENTS THAT STOPPED THE SHOW

HBK?s not the only guy who helped put ?Mania on the map. The following Superstars contested jaw-dropping matches that should also be committed to memory.

?

Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage?WrestleMania III
When WrestleMania III is mentioned, the first image that pops into everyone?s mind is Hogan slamming Andre. As iconic as that moment was, we think this technical classic put on by The Dragon and The Macho Man became the archetype for singles matches at The Show of Shows.

?

The Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage?WrestleMania VII
When Macho Madness collided with the power of Destrucity, Los Angeles crowds experienced a tectonic shift. It wasn?t an earthquake they were feeling, it was Savage?s five successive Elbow Drops. Sweet.?

?

Bret “Hit Man” Hart vs. Roddy Piper?WrestleMania VIII
In one of the greatest I-C Title contests ever, these two warhorses battled it out in a match that left members of the WWE Universe divided. Best moment? When Piper had a chance to nail Hart with the ring bell, and then tossed it aside, opting for the clean win. Who knew he had a conscience?

?

Owen Hart vs. Bret Hart?WrestleMania X
In this fraternal blood feud, who could have foreseen that Owen would turn the tables on Bret to nab the win? This was the moment when Owen emerged from Bret?s shadow to become a contender in his own right.

?

“Stone Cold” vs. The Rock?WrestleMania X-Seven
Austin and The Rock lit up WWE during The Attitude Era, but their kinetic throwdown in Houston still ranks as their best match ever. Tables, chairs, ring-posts?you name it, it was used. And to top it all off, Austin won, and then sided with…Mr. McMahon? Only at WrestleMania.

?

Edge vs. Mick Foley?WrestleMania 22
Foley and Edge put it all on the line (and left it all in the ring) during a brutal Hardcore Match that pushed the limits of how much punishment Superstars could take. Edge?s daredevil leap through a flaming table may rank as the night?s most photogenic moment.

?

Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels? The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania
OK?we included one HBK match on this list, but how could we ignore this bout? We all held our breath as ?Taker struggled to make it back to the ring before the 10-count, and our minds were blown when he caught HBK mid-moonsault for the Tombstone. And let?s not forget the rematch the following year!

Disappearance of Community dogs in the South

By a responsible dog owner and Sri Lankan resident from Weligama.

I was brought up to believe that at Christmas more than any other time of year, we should care for those less fortunate than ourselves and spread messages of love and peace.? As an adult, I have come to recognise that respect for life, and doing no harm, are principles that hold true in any religion.??? Last week I witnessed something in Weligama, that has haunted me for the entire week.? At the police station in Weligama Modera, a cage no more than 4 or 5ft square washolding a large number of live dogs, at least 2 or 3 deep in some places.? As an animal lover, this caused me a lot of distress, but as a foreigner in this country I am hesitant to ?interfere?, in matters, that potentially don?t concern me.

As it happens, I have since recieved numerous reports through social networks and from personal friends, some of whom have been in tears on the phone, to tell me about dogs (many of which are owned by communities and have been sterilized and imnnoculated), being systemmatically rounded up and removed, (and potentially destroyed) in Matara, Mirissa and now Weligama.? Whilst I am loathe to quote ?heresay? I understand that sources indirectly involved with the ?round up? have been so upset that they have told others, but are too fearful to speak out.? We understand that the un-official line is to ?clean up? the tourist areas.

I was shocked to hear this as I am certain that these cruel practices were put an end to with the ?no kill? policy introduced by the current President.

I appeal to the parties with power, his Excellency the President, Local Government, the Public Health Ministries, in the strongest way possible, and on behalf of those cannot speak for themselves, to find those responsible and put an end to this senseless cruelty.

As a concerned citizen, I was recently privileged to sit in on an anti-rabies meeting at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in which the head of the WHO and many leading Government vets and CMC members gave their opinions about the issue of rabies in Sri Lanka.? I am somewhat informed, but welcome these individuals to raise their voices, if my perceptions are in any way erroneous.? I understand that rabies is largely eliminated from Sri Lanka, and that proper dog-population management strategies have contributed significantly to this current state.? I also learned that removal of dogs from an area is an erroneous strategy, and a very temporary solution as it simply encourages more strays to take their place (and dogs which are not vaccinated or sterilised as many of these dogs are).

Furthermore, if I received these reports through social media, you can be certain that many potential visitors will also be made aware of these cruel practices, through the same network.? Many tourists are big time animal lovers, and will avoid coming here when they learn about these practices. There was a story only last year where a massive social network campaign around the shooting of stray dogs in Honduras evoked huge international outcry.

I cannot say categorically, that I know the truth behind the stories.? I can only tell you what I saw with my own eyes and the first-hand stories I have heard from others.? I do declare a vested interest as my own 5 dogs in Weligama could potentially become victims, should they inadvertantly stray onto the road.? I also love Sri Lanka and would hate for tourists to get the impression that Sri Lanka is a nation of cruel animal-haters.? Please stop!? Please work towards much more effective long-term solutions, and give these poor srilankan 4-legged citizens a chance of life this Christmas.
