The follow-up to last year’s Acer Iconia Tab A500 — aptly named the A510 — is hanging out in the NVIDIA booth at CES. The 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800 display (the same one on the A500) comes with Android 4.0 on board, alongside a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing cam. The tablet feels lighter than its predecessor (as it should, since it loses the USB 2.0 port), and we prefer the soft-touch plastic backing to aluminum finish on the last-gen model.
What’s most interesting about the A510, though, is not the fact that it has Ice Cream Sandwich pre-loaded, but that it has a custom UI, similar to what you’ll find on the Honeycomb-packing A200. Thankfully, Acer’s choice of skinning is low-key, and makes for an enjoyable, unobtrusive experience. First off, the UI is very ring-centric: tapping a virtual button in the middle of the task bar launches a ring with four customizable shortcuts, as well as a carousel on the right. Additionally, the lock screen offers a similar circular batch of four direct-access points, rather than the stock two. We appreciate that Acer isn’t looking to add a full fifteen pieces of flare to its proprietary user interface. Demi Lovato has had a difficult year, and in the latest issue of Seventeen she opens up about all the people who have been there for her: Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus.

Indeed, the singer sort of went off on The Big Guy Upstairs yesterday, Tweeting:

Bieber overtakes last year’s champ on search engine’s annual list of the year’s most-Binged people.

Having already bested Lady Gaga in the race to 2 billion YouTube views, Justin Bieber can now lay claim to another e-title: He’s just been named the year’s most-searched person on Internet search engine Bing, edging out his old pal Kim Kardashian for the title.
Yes, Bieber sits atop Bing’s annual list of the most-searched people of 2011, making the leap from #6 on last year’s list and knocking Kardashian down from the top spot, which she held last year. Jennifer Aniston came in at #3 on the list (up from #9 in 2010), and a whole host of other females — including Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus — round out the top 10.
Bieber was the only male to make Bing’s most-searched people list, which last year featured Jesse James, Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods and Barack Obama (who plummeted from #5 to #49 in 2011 … always a good sign in the lead-up to an election) in the top 10. Also dropping out of the top 10 were actress Sandra Bullock and reality TV mother-of-the-year Kate Gosselin.
Not surprisingly, Bieber also tops Bing’s list of most-searched musicians … and not surprisingly, he’s also the only male to make the top 10. JB bested Katy Perry to take the top spot, followed by Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. Bieber’s girlfriend Selena Gomez made the list at #6, just ahead of Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Mariah Yeater’s lawyer in paternity case says that while lawsuit has been dropped, negotiations for settlement are ongoing.

Justin Bieber reportedly took a DNA test Friday in response to the paternity case brought against him by Mariah Yeater, a 20-year-old California woman alleging the singer fathered her 4-month-old son, and now Yeater’s attorney tells TMZ his client will submit her baby for testing.
Late last month, Yeater filed a lawsuit claiming she became pregnant by Bieber during a backstage encounter following his October 25, 2010, concert at the Los Angeles Staples Center. Yeater withdrew her paternity suit a few weeks later and was dropped as a client by her initial legal team in mid-November. She went on to hire new counsel, led by Chicago-based attorney Jeffrey Leving, who told MTV News that while the suit had been dropped, negotiations for a settlement were ongoing.
Bieber’s legal team vehemently denies the allegations and has stated from the get-go that it might pursue legal action to protect the pop star from further false claims. “As we’ve said from the beginning, it’s sad that someone would fabricate such a malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claim,” Bieber’s spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, said in a statement. “We’ll continue to consider all of our options to protect Justin.”
What Are Bieber’s Legal Options Now That Yeater Has Dropped Her Suit? After reports surfaced that Bieber took a DNA test in New Jersey, TMZ reported Yeater was deliberately avoiding having her child tested because she knew the results would serve as evidence against her, should Bieber’s team file suit for defamation or abuse of the legal process. Her lawyer is now dispelling that notion, telling the gossip site that his client “can’t wait” to submit her young son for testing.
Leving, however, claimed he has a problem with the DNA test Bieber reportedly submitted because a member of his team was not present when it was administered. The lawyer said he has been in touch with Bieber’s legal counsel, headed by Howard Weitzman, and hopes both teams can reach an agreement on DNA-testing protocol.
Bieber has maintained a positive attitude throughout the ordeal. He has not altered the promotional tour for his holiday album, Under the Mistletoe, including a recent performance at the American Music Awards and on the “Today” show, and told MTV News last week at the Pencils of Promise charity event that he’s doing “great.”
Earlier that day, he spoke of the paternity case briefly with New York’s Z100 radio station, saying, “As far as the whole baby situation, it’s unfortunate that it had to happen like that. People make false accusations, but things happen in this industry, and you have to keep your head high and be positive.”
